A school trip with a difference – Bazaar Berlin offers a fascinating programme for students
• ‘Fair trade for a fair world’
• Workshops and other events in the Palais am Funkturm
• Schools programme from 18 to 20 November 2015
Berlin, 1 July 2015 – Around the world in only a few hours – that is a school trip that school classes can experience if they decide to go on a trip to Bazaar Berlin between 18 and 20 November. Over 500 manufacturers and traders from 60 countries will be represented at Germany’s largest consumer exhibition for handicrafts, designer articles and natural goods, where children and young people can find out about the origins and stories behind typical local goods and the people to do with these products. At the same time they can also test their knowledge of foreign languages.
Student workshops in the Palais am Funkturm for the first time
Fair trade is a big topic at Bazaar Berlin. Taking as its slogan ‘Fair trade for a fair world’ the schools programme will be taking a look at this subject and together with partners offering a wide range of workshops, where students can learn more about social responsibility, sustainable production, fair partnerships and cooperating with one another. Topics include managing resources such as water and electricity in a responsible way, practical skills such as stitching footballs and making toys, as well as educational theatre. Pupils can post the workshop results on bulletin boards, giving readers something to think about and discuss. All these events will be taking place in a historical building, the Palais am Funkturm.
This year, the partners of the schools programme are Baobab – Infoladen Eine Welt e.V., Deutsch-Kirgisischer Kulturverein, Engagement Global, Fodé Camara, Fördern durch Spielmittel e.V., Mama Afrika e.V., moveGLOBAL e.V., Projekthaus e.V. Potsdam-Babelsberg and Weltladen A Janela.
