Dear friends of Bazaar Berlin,
In a few days it finally starts again: Bazaar Berlin opens its doors next Wednesday. Celebrate with us our 60th birthday! Started in 1962 as a development event under the name "Übersee-Import-Messe Partner des Fortschritts", Bazaar Berlin has developed into Germany's most international sales fair for handicrafts, design, natural products and fair trade goods. A photo exhibition in the halls takes you on a 60-year journey through time at Bazaar Berlin.
Today we present the FAIR

Weltladen AJanela from Berlin-Wilmersdorf has been there from the beginning. This year AJanela has new products in the assortment, which you will surely like:
Organic cotton bedding, made in Pakistan: With decades of experience, the Pakistani company Crecent Textiles produces high-quality bed linen. The bed linen in Renforcè quality is made of 100% organic cotton, tested for harmful substances by the OEKO-Tex and the OCS 100 seal.
The solar glass from South Africa: Finally it is back, the classic solar glass from South Africa. In the sun, the solar cells charge up, so that the LED bulbs can emit a good and environmentally friendly light without any conventional electricity. What was initially intended for use in their own townships has long since gained international recognition and can also help us save electricity.
Bronze sculptures from Burkina Faso: Wonderful, lively and expressive women's sculptures are created by bronze artists Patrice Balma and Hamidou Ouedraogo from Ouagadougou. Using the "lost casting" technique, the sculptures are first molded with beeswax, encased in clay and fired. After the wax has drained off, the mold is filled with liquid recycled bronze, and the casting mold is smashed after cooling.

Back this year is Nyuzi Blackwhite with his handmade bags and accessories from cement bags from Kenya. For the first time, the label Kipepeo-Clothing is participating as a co-exhibitor. Kipepeo is a unique social enterprise that creates jobs in the textile industry on the east coast of Africa and supports school projects in Tanzania and Kenya. The children's drawings that find their way onto Kipepeo shirts are part of the regular school day at elementary school in East Africa.

Sustainability: The Re-Use Berlin initiative
Re-Use Berlin, an initiative of the Berlin Senate, promotes awareness of resource-conserving consumption and creates infrastructures for the handing in and purchase of second-hand goods in good condition. Under the motto "Reuse instead of throwing away", the purchase of second-hand goods is presented as a real alternative to buying new. Since 2020, a special place exists for the initiative: In the Re-Use Superstore at Hermannplatz, Re-Use actors offer their used or upcycled products. Now the Re-Use booth presents itself for the first time at Bazaar Berlin.
